BioI've finally got round to starting a proper piano journal!

I've been playing piano for just over 4 years (since 18th Nov 2003!) and since I still have all my lesson notes I thought I'd blog it all until it's up to date and then keep on blogging!
So, where to start... here's my 2nd home... Aziraphale
where I spend most of my time!
When I first started lessons we'd got rid of our old piano so all I had was a mini yamaha keyboard (it was TINY, mini mini keys...), after a few months I invested in an electric piano, a Clavinova (which I still have, but I'm looking for a new home for him!)
about a year later I started looking for an acoustic piano and we managed to find a pretty decent one for £80! The owners were only getting rid of it for extra space so we took it, after a few years it was in a bad way and an old piano anyway so when we got the tuner in he suggested at my level I'd need a better piano that I could keep for life. SO we went and looked for one at the piano center and found my Aziraphale, (Yamaha U1 model), which was 2nd hand but completely restored like new, he was delivered a couple of months ago and has settled in nicely
Last year I started thinking about a more portable piano to possibly gig with! (my electric piano is amazingly heavy... and not very portable!) so I started searching for a good Stage Piano
that's when I found my gorgeous KORG SP250 stage piano
which now lives in my bedroom
Up 'til now I've taken 6 exams, Grade 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and Grade 5 theory (After Grade 1 I moved on pretty fast and ended up working for G3 instead)
Just started Grade 7 this month which I plan to take (all going well) in November 2008 this year
After that I plan to go to Italy and study piano there for a month-long intensive course (if I can get the money together!) then I guess I'll come back, work on Grade 8, then I want to take a break from exams and work on all those amazing pieces I've always wanted to learn (Mainly Beethoven Sonatas, Moonlight 3rd mvt, Appassionata Sonata, Rachmaninov even) after THAT I plan on doing the 3 Diploma exams but in no rush yet to do those. I might have a year or so off exams between grade 8 and diploma just to enjoy playing random pieces
Apart from taking lessons (in mainly classical music) I compose quite a bit (influences - Einaudi, Dresden Dolls, Muse...) and play electro-type music (SYNTH!) and will hopefully be taking up Jazz piano lessons soon
Enough about me now, my Journal - it's basically ALL of the lessons I've ever had since the very beginning, notes on the pieces I've had to learn, stuff I've had trouble with, exam stresses, videos, new pieces I'm working on etc etc
